Hobbies, Interests, and Somethin’ I Could Really Get Into

Posted in Bullshit, Hot Babes, Mind Wandering, Misc. on July 21st, 2007 by Atlas Cerise

Afishionados,

I thought it was time I shared some of my personal interests with you guys. You know, to build up our blogging relationship even further. Somethin’ to make us feel more like friends and less like strangers. Here are some things that I really like:

Wish I could eat out more often.

I like to start my day off with a good breakfast. I like a good hot meal in the morning. Yum yum. Sometimes, I will even read the newspaper while I eat.

Long walks with puppies

I like animals (except birds), especially small dogs. And I like to take long walks outdoors. Hell, I’d even take the dog with me if I had to.

Oh, and I also like corn.

Blowin' bubbles

Another fun thing I like to do outside is blow bubbles. I love bubbles. Who doesn’t? Sometimes all that blowin’ is a real tough job, but in the end I always feel happy.

This photo is a great reason to be alive.

It seems that a lot of my interests take me outdoors. A really fun sport is archery. Sometimes, though it’s a challenge. I’m always on the lookout to split something with my arrow, but I can’t always find the perfect target to shoot at. And usually, like the bow, there’s some kinda strings attached. Oh, well, bows and arrows are still fun.

I can't get enough strawberries

STRAWBERRIES!!! I LOVE STRAWBERRIES!!! And the size of the berries isn’t everything. Even if the berries are small, they still taste really good in your mouth. Mmmmmm…..

Less is More?

Afishionados,

Turns out that the drop down menu code I used on my site ended up being more of a pain in the ass than it was worth. I think it looked cleaner than a generic list, but I kept getting HTML errors whenever I tried to change ANYTHING within it. So, at least for now, it’s back to the basics. I need your input and opinions, please.

While checking out blogs, do you prefer the plain ol’ list ‘o shit type of blogroll or do you like things cleaner and fancier? I’ve always felt that long lists of links look bad, but they’re more practical than what I was using before. What have you found that works best for you guys?

Also, I had some weird stuff happen to some files on my server with regard to Old Fish and Lemonade’s template settings. If you notice anything out of the ordinary (well, template-wise, anyway) please post it here and I will attempt to fix it. (Please note, this also includes links to blogs. If I previously linked to you and suddenly do not, let me know.)

Thanks!

Friday the 13th

Posted in Misc., Navy, Oddities on April 13th, 2007 by Atlas Cerise

Afishionados,

Happy Friday the 13th. I’m stuck on the ship until next weekend (still fast cruising), so I apologize for the lack of updates around the Fish. Hopefully some good news and some big news to post about within the next couple weeks. Stay tuned…

SPAM of the Beast

SPAM of the Beast

Afishionados,

I logged into my free Gmail account today and was greeted with this image. I think it’s a sign to move on and away from free email. I just get too much junk mail.

Since my parents can never remember my email address and they still believe it to be something@aol.com, I have decided to make my new email address idiot parent proof. Here it is:

New email address

Yes, mom and dad, you read it correctly. It’s MY FIRST NAME at THIS WEB SITE’S ADDRESS. Simple.

Ah, who am I kidding? Someone will fuck it up. For this reason, I’ve set up my old Gmail account to forward all mail to my new one for the time being. This is temporary, though, so bust out those bifocals and learn the new one posthaste!

PlayStation 3 released in USA. Madness and Hilarity ensues.

Afishionados,

I would like to steal incorporate the idea of a “Diversions” section from the Headless Hollow blog here on the Fish, but in the meantime enjoy this completely random post.

The PlayStation launches in the USA this week. People everywhere go nuts for it. SmashMyPS3.com raises money to do what their domain name states. A brand new PlayStation 3 is completely destroyed while a crowd of nerds wait outside of Best Buy (click here to launch video in a new window). Virgins everywhere cry themselves to sleep.

O.F.A.L. v3.0

Afishionados,

We’ve come so far since the days of Blogger haven’t we? I’ve been hard at work tweaking the Fish these past few days and I think the improvements are pretty good. Here’s a list of what’s new:

1.) Search, Categories, and Menu buttons have been moved beneath the header and should work from any page you visit on O.F.A.L.

2.) New “About Me” section added (still in the processing of being updated. It’s 2 A.M., what do you want from me? Post your questions or suggestions and maybe they’ll make it in the final cut.)

3.) Over 15 new Quotes of Truth and GoodnessTM.

4.) Fixed a bug in the Benevolence 1.0 WordPress theme that made the Fish incompatible with Internet Explorer 7.0 (many thanks to Bean for feedback)

5.) New “Home Badge” button added. Oooooo, shiny!

6.) “Fellow Inmates” and “Other Places” replaced with cooler, cleaner DHTML menus, thus clearing space for future margin goodies!

7.) Smaller header image. Now with 12 less pixels and half the calories!

8.) New and improved Leatherette CreamTM background color because the white was just too damn white.

9.) I went back and fixed a lot of “broken images” for a lot of older posts that we hosted on a server I no longer use. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find all of the original images but I’ll see what I can do about redoing them at a later date.

10.) Attempted to drink Snapple’s diet iced tea with lemon and found it tasted too much like peach cat piss. Avoid it if possible.

Just post your complaints, bug reports, confessions about emailing underage pages, and comments in the…well, comments section.

Long live the Fish 3.0!

Old Fish and Lemonade Gets a Facelift

Posted in Misc. on October 4th, 2006 by Atlas Cerise

Afishionados,

I’ve done an upgrade to O.F.A.L. tonight. I’ve moved the Search, Categories, and Archives functions to the top of the site, directly beneath the header. I’ve tested all three functions using Internet Explorer and Firefox 1.5 on the PC and with Safari on my Mac. All three of them look and work correctly for me, but if you are having difficulties please email me and send me a screenshot if at all possible. My email address is nucleardisaster at gmail dot com.

I want to clear up the left side of the site for some future ideas. Unfortunately, this also means I’ve lost my “random quotes” feature for the time being. I thought about keeping it but it looks odd beneath all the menus. Suggestions?

I hope the new layout works as well for you as it does for me. Thanks!

UPDATE: I installed Internet Explorer 7.0 due to Bean’s feedback and Old Fish and Lemonade does not appear to be compatible with it. I checked out a few other sites with it and they don’t look correct either. I can only hope this is because IE 7 is still in BETA. If you’re using IE, do yourself a favor and switch to Firefox.

Also, “random quotes” are back due to much protesting from my mother :-).

Old Fish and Lemonade Gets Flushed

Posted in Bullshit, Misc., Tricksy on August 2nd, 2006 by Atlas Cerise

Wow. A horrific upgrade experience to WordPress 2.0.4 left me without O.F.a.L. for over two hours today.

I have also upgraded the Fish’s anti-SPAM plugins. As of this post, 181 comments have been approved and 126 comments have been correctly identified and removed as SPAM. That’s a lot of potted meat.

If you have troubles viewing the Fish or you suddenly find yourself unable to post comments (whereas in the past you could), simply e-mail me and I will look into a fix.

I Love to Play With It

Posted in Awesome, Misc., Oddities, Tricksy, Uncategorized on July 26th, 2006 by Atlas Cerise

So the past couple of days, I find myself taking it out more often than I used to and playing with it. Since I feel as though I am still learning how to properly handle and use it, I don’t like to mess around with it unless I am alone. I’d just get too embarassed if someone walked in on me while I was fooling around with it for no good reason.

It’s bigger than most people’s, that’s for sure. I’ve seen some of my friends’ and mine is a lot larger than theirs. Sometimes it protrudes so far out there that it’s very difficult to hold it steady and get it to do what I want. Things end up really messy and I find it’s often just plain hard to focus when I twist it out as far as it will go.

I’ve felt that the hardest part of it all is getting it to do it’s thing when I’m in a dark room. It sounds odd, I know, but it’s so much easier to control and manipulate when there’s plenty of light. Things just go a lot more smoothly this way.

I love holding it in my hands, though. Boy, does that feel good! It’s so hard, yet pleasantly round and agile. It’s a real beauty and, when it works, it works great. I could wrap my fingers around it all day. It’s a shame I can’t do this to it whenever I want. Heck, even the ladies thinks it’s sexy looking. (Sometimes, if she’s really good, I’ll let her hold it, stroke it, and occasionally use it.)

But, still, I’ve got a big problem with 300mm shots. I can’t seem to get one in focus, so I think I’ll end up buying a tripod. That’s what the guy at the camera shop recommended, anyway. What, did you think I was talking about something else?
