I think the way it works is that you can voice your opinion as long as you aren’t doing it as from your position in the service (ie: as RC21 WCS on CVN-72). Even ET2 Billybob is fine, just not your job title, whatever it may be. At least that’s what they put out at NAVLEAD. It kind of applies more toward written stuff, so I’m not sure how they’d enforce it for speech anyway.

Should have asked the idiot what his asvab score was.

He was truly a moron. Art. 88 of the UCMJ is what he was getting at and last time I checked, you weren’t commissioned. The wording explicitly states that a “..commissioned officer makes disparaging remarks against an elected official.” I had this argument out with a chief one time and it did not reassure me that he was trusted with such important decisions. Someone might try and stick you with Art. 134, in which case I would ask for JAG representative at your DRB so everyone in your chain would look like a complete fucking idiot.

In other words, don’t publicly talk shit about a superior in your chain. Yay! You’re not going to the brig!
